MAY 2010

May is always such a busy month in our family. We have lots of birthdays, Mother's Day, Memorial Day, etc... Not to mention trying to adjust to a new baby. We had a wonderful month spending time with Brooklyn. Ben and I were both off work for the whole month, but it flew by so fast!!
Kyler's 21st birthday was on May 3rd. Monica came out that week, and this was her first time meeting Brooklyn. We had fun with her and Ellie, although Ellie wouldn't pose for any pictures with Brooklyn. (She's still a little jealous when her mom holds the baby). We made this sign for Kyler and emailed it to him. I can't wait for him to get home and meet her!
I can't even describe what my first Mother's Day meant to me. All I've ever wanted in life is to become a mother. When Ben and I decided to have a baby, it took a lot longer than we expected to get pregnant. After many months of prayers and faith, we finally found out we were going to have a baby and we both just cried with gratitude! Brooklyn has been the best little thing that has ever happened to us, and we couldn't imagine life without her! Being a mother is nothing short of a dream come true, and it's brought me more joy than I ever knew existed!

My 27th birthday was on May 11th, and as always, our friends and families made it perfect for me!

Mom's birthday was on May 23rd, so we went over to their house to celebrate! I love my mom, she is the best!!
The week before I went back to work, my mom and I headed over to Grand Junction to meet my aunt Adele and cousin Charis. They live in Blanding, so we meet them there once in awhile to hang out. I was a little stressed out because it was my first trip out of town with Brooklyn, but everything went just fine. We had so much fun shopping and going to lunch and hanging out with them. Brooklyn slept the whole way there, and cried and screamed the whole 2 1/2 hours home! It was quite a relief to get home and get her out of her car seat, poor little thing!
For Memorial Day we went to my Grandpa Monsen and my Aunt Linda's graves on Sunday with the Monsen side of the family, and then had our annual lunch at my Grandma's house. On Monday, we went out to Ben's Uncle Craig's house and had pizza and hung out with the Batty's. His Aunt Linda and Renee were both out in Vernal for the day, so they got to meet Brooklyn. Then we went back to the cemetary and visited his Grandma Mae's grave. Brooklyn's middle name, Mae is after her.
Brookie turned one month old on May 22nd!
First time sitting in her Bumbo seat. (Still a little too small for it)
She loves snuggling with mom and dad!
Just a few more of the millions of pictures we've taken since she's been born! We love our little Brookie so much!!

Brooklyn's Newborn Pictures

When Brooklyn was 2 weeks old we had Kristi Simmons come over to our house and take her newborn pictures. She did an awesome job! She takes amazing pictures. We had so much fun posing her and she was such a little angel the whole time!!

APRIL 2010

I am trying to catch up on blogging. Brooklyn was born on April 22nd, and since that day life has been wonderfully crazy to say the least! I went back to work when she was almost 6 weeks old, so trying to balance work, home, church, family and everything else has been quite the adjustment!! Blogging just hasn't been on the top of my priority list, when there's always something else that needs to be done. I'm still wanting to make my blog into a book at the end of each year though, so I definitely need to document everything that I feel is important. We have literally taken hundreds of pictures since she's been born, so I figured the easiest way to catch up is to seperate my posts by the month. So here I go........
April 2010:

Our first full day home with Brooklyn was on Sunday, April 25th.. Dale, Shannon and the kids came over to visit her for the first time. My parents and Ben's parents came over to visit as well. My mom helped me give her her first bath at home. She hated her baths for the first few weeks.

We took her to her first Dr's appointment on Monday, April 26th, with Dr. Kwak. She had dropped a little in weight, and was down to 6 lbs 4 oz. (She was 6 lbs 8 oz when she was born). It was our first excursion out of the house, and Ben and I were definitely the typical paranoid, first time parents, but we all survived.

When she was brand new, we would put her in front of the fire every night after her bath. She would just stare at it, and she loved laying there by the warm fire.

She was so sleepy all the time. She had her days and nights mixed up for the first month or so. She would sleep all day long, and there was nothing we could do to wake her up. She slept like a rock. Then about 10:00 or 11:00 every night, she was wide awake and wanted to play!

My visiting teachers brought me dinner one night, the first week I was home from the hospital and they also brought me this darling tutu and flower. MiKell and I had fun dressing her up, and laughing, because the flower was bigger than her whole head!!

Coming soon.....May 2010!
